Kryton® LEED™
The Question is often asked “ are Kryton® products LEED™ certified.”
The fact of the matter is: Only buildings can be certified, i.e. materials
are not individually given any sort of merit in the LEED system.
Points are awarded based on overall building design and materials used.
This means that Kryton’s products, or any products for that matter, cannot be LEED™ certified.
Kryton® products may contribute to achieving valuable LEED™ points. Here are just a
few ways the Krystol concrete waterproofing system can do this:
Sustainable Sites - Reduced Site Disturbance (2 points) - It is possible that, based on the fact that less
or no excavation is required for Kryton® products vs. physical membranes.
Sustainable Sites - Construction Waste Management (1 point) – KIM concrete can be recycled. Post demolition,
eliminating waste. Membrane water-based concrete is destined for the landfill.
Materials & Resources - Regional Materials (2 points) – this applies to products that are
manufactured and transported within 500 miles of the jobsite.
Indoor Environmental Quality - Low- Emitting Materials (1 point) - Krystol does not
contribute to bad air quality and has zero VOCs.
Innovation & Design Process - Enhanced Durability (1 point) – KIM and Krystol
contribute to the overall durability and life expectancy of a building by stopping
corrosion, increasing freeze thaw durability, protecting against chemical attack,
carbonation
